Barry Abernathy grew up near the head of the Appalachian Trail in northern Georgia. His grandmother had a banjo, and despite being born with only one finger on his noting hand, he knew at the young age of 14 that he wanted to learn to play that banjo and Appalachian music. 

He loves turkey hunting, fishing with his son, and quiche. His favorite color is pink.
